Reticently Despaired

A little lost, a little confused

A little heartbroken, a little bruised

Grateful and fortunate, yes

And yet, often rendered bemused

Too in over my head, too often misled

You'll figure it out soon, that's what they'd said

It's been years, I'm still here

Inching away farther each day instead

I stand watching, the world passes me by

Do I dare aim for the sky?

Can't find paradise on the ground

But what if I fall, worse, what if I fly

I could paint this town blue tonight

Come morning, it can go back to being bright

Tomorrow, I'll admire the rainbows and the sun again

Tonight, under the stars, of my woe, I write
